Why Alayam

Every stitch keeps a home going

Behind every garment here is a person: a mother at her sewing machine, a young designer with her first boutique, a master tailor whose hands know cloth better than any machine. When you shop on Alayam, your money goes to them.

The home tailor

After the house is asleep, she sits down at her sewing machine. Her stitches pay school fees, buy medicines, keep the family standing. Alayam brings her steady orders, each with its pattern drawn and its customer found, so her skill earns what it deserves, from home.

The young boutique owner

She has the eye, the courage and a small shop with a big dream. What she needs is reach. On Alayam her designs travel across India, and every order reaches her measured and ready to cut.

And you

When you order here, you're not buying from a warehouse. You're buying from someone building a life, one piece at a time. Your outfit is made for your body, by hands that care how it looks on you.

Alayam began at home, at my mother Anu Radha's sewing machine. She learned tailoring out of her own love for it, and until her last day she stitched her own clothes, and ours. Alayam means temple. To us, every home where someone sits down to stitch is one.

Questions

What if it doesn't fit?

Have it altered by any tailor near you within 30 days of delivery and we pay the bill back, up to ₹500. Tell us from your order page. Before cutting, a tailor also checks your measurements and calls you if one looks off.

How accurate is measuring with my phone?

The phone gives a first estimate, and it can be off by several centimetres, more on some body shapes and in poor light. That is why you see and confirm every number (a tape measure is best for chest, waist and hips), and a tailor checks the whole set before cutting and calls you if something looks off.

Do I need an account?

Not to browse or to try the design studio. You create a free account when you want to measure yourself, save a design or order, so your measurements and orders are kept safely for you.

How long does it take?

Your garment is cut and stitched in about 10 days after you order, then shipped. Your order page shows each step.

Is my camera picture stored?

No. Your phone reads your measurements from the camera and sends only those numbers. The picture never leaves your phone.

What if I already know my measurements?

Choose "I already know my measurements" and type them in. You can also mix: use the camera, then correct any number with a tape.

Can I use my own fabric?

Not yet: we cut from our own fabrics, which you choose in the design studio.

Where do you deliver?

All of India

How do I pay?
